SOCIAL WORKER
Independent social worker -Maxine Overington
An experienced, honest and hardworking social worker who has been qualified for 13 years and worked in adult and children’s social care for the past 33 years.
I have a certificate in social sciences, a post qualifying award in children and families and a BA (Hons) in social work from Kingston university. I am also a form F assessor.
My experience is in adult mental health, adult learning disabilities and hospital discharge teams. I have worked in referral and assessment teams, children with disabilities and children safeguarding teams with frontline experience in both safeguarding and child in need within local authorities.. I have extensive experience in completing court reports (SWET), S7 reports, viability assessments, risk assessments and parenting assessments.

Freedom Program
The Freedom Programme examines the roles played by attitudes and beliefs on the actions of abusive men and the responses of victims and survivors.
The aim is to help them to make sense of and understand what has happened to them, instead of the whole experience just feeling like a horrible mess.
The Freedom Programme also describes in detail how children are affected by being exposed to this kind of abuse and very importantly how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed.

CARING DADS
Caring Dads provides a condensed 12-week parenting course for fathers who are in contact with their children or have the expectation of being in contact with them. It is a cognitive behaviour therapy programme delivered by trained facilitators with a background in child development or offender management.

PAMS
PAMS has been developed to present complex information within a format that interfaces well with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and Their Families (DoH, 2000), the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) for children and young people (DCSF, 2010) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (DfE, 2015, 2018). PAMS can be used as a screening tool or as a comprehensive specialist assessment that is central to the identification and targeting of support required by those families where parents or children have additional and/or complex needs.
PAMS can simplify the measurement of parental capacity especially when this involves the uptake, maintenance or generalisation of parenting skills. Also, PAMS consolidates the assessment data automatically into template reports to help the assessor in their report writing.

Life Story work is an important way of helping a child to understand their past
and integrate it with the present, to fill the gaps and move into the future.
